The "butchering" of the National Anthem is symptomatic of the general lack of talent that is prevalent in today's celebrities (it would be a disservice to call them artists). They can't sing the anthem properly (it is a difficult piece) so they butcher it and call it art. Since we are not artists, we are considered ignorant if we object. "The emperor has no clothes" comes to mind if you are old enough to remember that children's story. Britney Spears is a good example. If you have heard her latest recordings; with that much processing and computer augmentation my cat could be a star!
