My condolences on your loss .

Hollow words , I know , with the pain you are feeling from your grief .
But time , and only time , will heal it .

Do not think of the absence , but , instead , remember the 16+ years of joy and happiness . Celebrate the memory , rather than dwell on the loss .

I'm sorry for your loss.

But you are a lucky person to have had a dog that lived 16+ years.

I'm really sorry to hear that LT, I know how you must be feeling. Our family pet, a 17-18 year old cat, is in the veterinary hospital right now undergoing tests. However they are pretty sure it is a type of cancer/lymphoma and she probably won't be with us too much longer. She currently weighs less than 5 lbs and they are trying to slow her system shutting down on her.
Family pets are very important in life and their passing is a very difficult thing to deal with...very much a part of the family, make no mistake.
Again, Im sorry to hear about your pup.:(

Nothing much I can say to make it any better,....

Miss them so damn much for a while when they go. The house echos in their abcense.

Can't think of any thing that would be as loyal or as brave to risk their own life without a doubt or thought, only how to save you from disaster.

How is it that anything can be so trusting and faithful?

Patience was perfected by a dog, and man is still racing to catch up with that simplest of personalities, a dogs!

I am sorry you lost him,
PH.

Re: Lost one of the best this evening.......

Sorry to hear that, LT. I lost a pet of 16+ years in this past summer.

I really don't know exactly how old he was because he was a pound cat, and was an adult when I got him. He was the funniest damn cat I ever had though - just used to do all kinds of goofy stuff, like climb up onto my shoulders any time I picked him up. I have no idea where he learned that, because I didn't teach it to him. He was also a wuss who hated any sort of cold weather. Before I got smart and banished the cats to my workshop (yeah, they're wusses there too, because its heated), he used to get in my bed and "nose his way" under the covers. As soon as he started that, of course, the other two learned it, and I spent for than a few nights with three furballs crowding me more than any dang GF that I've ever had!

In some ways, its funny how we get so attached to pets, Then again, they definately have personalities and they are sort of like kids with the unconditional love thing. Heck, in some ways they are better than kids, because you only have to take them to the doc once a year, and they don't need new clothes and shoes every five minutes!

I know your dog was your buddy and you will miss him, but remember all the good times and funny mannerisms that he had. Like our human loved ones, that's the way to bid them farewell!

What the others said:(. Lost 1 at 14+ years 4-5 months ago. That 'ol rascal was my best bud. As someone said - nothing but time will fill the hole in your heart.
