Need Help

Will a 8hp.motor plane off a 12ft. aluminum boat if so how do I go about it? I am going to put more weight up front like a 12 volt battery before I go out again fishing. I have down size in boats, never had this problem with last boat. Thanks.

Battery up front, fuel tank up front. Play with the motor trim angle adjustment. Make sure the motor is not too low. The anti-ventilation plate should be even or slightly above the bottom of the boat. Use a yardstick or long level, eyeballing it can be deceiving.

Another alternative is to get a tiller extension and you move your body weight forward too.

I had a 12 with a 9.9 and as mentioned, I got a long gas hose and put the gas and battery all the way up front and it worked really well, that should help alot.

But yes I would think it should plane out eventually.
