And I have tried more than once

Actually, if you leave the plug out just long enough to get the right depth in the boat then put the plug in, you never have to get out of the floaty toy
LOL funny,
On my 88 Capri that we had, i had a transom dry rot issue, and parted the boat out.
sold the seats, hacked out the fuel tank, sold the windows, sold the engine, no one wanted the OMC Cobra suprisingly.
Basically it was just a shell, 20' Bayliner Cuddy.
We were going on vacation, so i parked the eye sore alongside the house.
Well, it ended up raining a lot during the week and a half that we were gone.
and it was sitting along side the house with a brokedn gutter, with the plug still in it.
So, we get back, i had a call from Evergreen Speedway who wanted the boat for the boat races, basically a demo derby with boats.
I go to hook it up and notice the tires are awfully low, and i cant lift the tongue.
I look in the boat and it is 3/4 full of water. Yikes. I found where the water was leaking in when it was in the water. It drained for 4 hrs.
