Hey everyone out there that could help me, I would be greatly appreciated. I have a 1970 25hp Evinrude that I bought and started once and ran fine for about 5 minutes. I just wanted to be sure it would start fine. I then got back to it the next week and it would start up and run for about 5 seconds and then not start again. If I would wait a little bit it would then start again and die. If I put starting fluid in it it starts and dies now. I just rebuilt the carb with a friend of mine who went through marine mechanics so he knows more then I do. Everything looked good though we replaced the parts anyway. It has new spark plugs and gas lines are good. I now can not get it to start. I can not eve get the ball to fill up on the has tank to the fuel pump. Also fuel pump is pumping air out of it and when I do cover the small wholes on the pump then air goes into the carb. Has anyone had this issue or something similar and any suggestions would be great. I am getting ready to replace the fuel pump though I would not want to if I do not have to! Thanks for any advice on this issue.
