Breaking news telling of 12 dead and 32 injured in a shooting at the base.

Early information tells that one of three shooters was a member of the US forces.

I am not comfortable with cliches like "senseless violence".

Those who commit the violence have motives that make sense to them.

I will wait for the Army, etc. to tell us what sense this made and to whom.

Considering that it happened at our largest military installation here in the CONUS...I'm not sure we will ever know the entire truth...the gunmans name DOES worry me......and yes , keep yer eyes open..... closed eyes were part of the reason 9/11 happened...I don't trust any of 'them'

I have family stationed at Ft Hood, He's in Utah this week so I was pretty sure his plans hadn't changed and sent him back early. He returnes to Hood tomorrow.

It's wierd, I Checked the news often when he was in Iraq and worried when I heard about helicopters down, I did't think I had any worries with him at Ft Hood.

No one is truly safe I guess

Same here. I couldn't believe the news when I saw it. The men and women of the armed services have my upmost respect.

I work on Ft Hood, I have been caught up in this senseless tragedy all day. We still dont know the extent of the sorrow and pain that is to come to our community, and the heroes that we lost, but this is one of the strongest families you can imagine. We will lock arms around one another and take care of the victims and their families, you can be sure. Continue to keep Ft Hood and its soldiers in your prayers tonight.

Just reported...the shooter is NOT dead.

"The shooter was initially reported to have been killed, but Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone told a late night news conference that the suspect was wounded and in custody. Cone would not say what Hasan's medical condition was, but said the suspect was not in danger of dying."

Keep this thread open please, I would like to know the results also, so keep us posted on new updates. Yes it's tragic and feel bad for the victms and their families as well, I won't say anymore because I might say how I really feel.

This guy was an american, born in Virginia. He had an islamic name.,
been in the military since high school.
