You guys are speculating already. Don't do that. You will end up looking very foolish.

My Dad used to say (in the days before TV news reporting), "Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see."

Example(s): Dr. Hasan is not dead, as reported all day by everyone. The female civilian cop reported to have killed him isn't dead either.

DO NOT TOUCH on speculation about Dr. Hasan's cultural heritage, name or religion. That will close this thread immediately.

It would be very interesting what sorry, lame-@ss excuse the shooters come up with.

I hope they get what they deserve.

My heart goes out to the families of our nation's hero's slain and injured today.

We should all remember to pray for our men and women in all the branches of armed services supporting and protecting our freedom, and never forget the sacrifices they all make for us all everyday.

Yep, just like the news media, sensationalists all, who reported unsubstiantiated rumors. And these conclusion-jumpers walk among us and vote.

There will be plenty of time for everything to be sorted out ... now is the time to pray for the wounded and the families of all victims (including the family of the shooter ... they need our prayers as much as anyone does).

How about we keep all religion out of this thread. Islam isn't the only brainwashing religion.

This guy provided couselling to the veterans that were over there and came back screwed up so he learned the horrors of what happened. I can just imagine hearing hundreds of these stories and then realizing that you are now going to be thrust into it. Not to condone what he did but I can understand how it could make you crazy.

I agree Bruce. Sure wish he could have found a better way to outlet his frustrations. These kind of things never make any sense. At least this guy lived so we may get some answers (not that they will make sense either).

My home is in Killeen about a ten minute drive to the site of the shootings.
I spent a great deal of time at the Soldier Readiness Center last spring before I retired. I'll be surprised if I don't at least indirectly know a victim.

Prayers for my neighbors and community.

Re: Mass shooting at Fort Hood Texas

I just listened to an NPR story on this which mentioned the shooter has been trying to get a discharge, even offering to repay the training costs. Not a real fact filled story, but it seems he wanted out pretty bad. They mentioned a bunch of reasons why he wanted the discharge, but they all sounded like shot-in-the-dark guesses. In typical media fashion (though unusual for NPR), they began saying the FBI was tracking 'his posts' on a forum, telling of some specific posts, then followed it with a quick 'well, it might be him'.

Looks like Killeen is the home of a hero!

In the midst of the murderous gunfire that sent soldiers at Fort Hood scattering, it was a civilian mother of two who ran towards the gunfire, taking down the shooter in a close range gunbattle that left both wounded.

Sgt. Kimberly Munley, a cilvilian Fort Hood officer, is being hailed as a hero after taking down alleged shooter Maj. Nidal Malk Hasan during Thursday's massacre.
(ABC News)

Sgt. Kimberly Nunley, who lives in Killeen, Texas, has been hailed a hero by Fort Hood base commander Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, who credited her today with bringing the massacre to an end and saving an untold number of lives.
"She was quite effective, one of our most impressive young policemen," Cone told "Good Morning America" today. "She walked up and basically engaged him. I think, certainly, this could've been far worse."

Yes sir, we'll all stick our heads in the sand, just like the Media.
