Unless there is cause for anything else, and not knowing this employee's trustworthiness, I'd ask will you put that in writing for the insurance company? After that I'd call it day, otherwise... we may need to revisit their employee status. If you're straight up and own it we're good... if not we'll part ways.

Did you mean "collaborated" ? or "corroborated"? Pretty big difference, but ends up being an ironic play on words in this situation. .

Suppose they did finally give a different story, what would you do? The answer to that may give an insight to why they would stick to a story that does not match the facts!

That,s one of the problems. The night shift can be a tight group of guys and that,s a good thing as they need each other to rely on at 2:00am when things go wrong. So as for collaborated or corroborated it could go ether way.

As of discipline he would just get a good firm talking to if he made a mistake and nothing if it was a accident.

There would be no insurance as we can do this stuff in house cheaper than having insurance do it with out the head games.

I guess in about a years time when were all sitting around having a beer shooting the crap it will come out what really happened and laugh about it.

It can be disproven or at least disputed with an expert physical examination of the truck.

I charge $75/hr plus mileage/expenses! ;) he he he

We have done more insane things to get to the bottom of a story and $75/hr is cheap.

Well, Crawford or another, more local, heavy equipment specialist will charge $100/hr, and with a minimum of 2 hours required, it wouldn't be just $100, but it might shed some light. Something to think about.

Some times you have to find the truth at no expense but I don,t think this one rates for a CSI investigation:D

I was once sent on a emergency plane ride at a moments notice to check out why a truck would not run. Thinking it was sabotage just to find out it had run out of fuel. Yup a $500 round trip plane ride (charter) and a my days pay. It was a nice day to fly. :p

without pushing too hard on any "buttons" sounds like he may have reason to lie if it was an accident through his usage of a crane.

that said most parking lots with lights also have cameras - sometimes. contact property, first is their lens missing, second do they have video that shows the lens falling.

I think all of us believe it would be hard to only hit a windshield and nothing else with a falling lens. but stranger things have happened.

No that isn't why they were invented, but it's what they are forced to do, when people lie to them (every day!).
