71 Johnson LU on 73 Evinrude Upper

Does anyone know whether a 71 Johnson 60hp hydro electric lower unit would mate up to a 73 Evinrude 50hp?

if you have both LUs available..measure them and check splines. I think both are electric shifts. But I do not know off hand if they are interchangeable, I threw away my electric shift motor cause I couldn't give it away, I do not mess with anything older than 79, if I can help it.

One is a hydro-electric system and the other is hydro-mechanical - similar but not the same and not interchangeable.
