I have a warning alarm when I leave a no wake zone and go straight to wot condition. If I throttle up just enough to get on plane no warning sounds. can run 3/4 throttle with no warning. At start up warning sounds the normal 3 beeps which indicates the injection system is operational. Great info last time I had issues, need help again. (I am hearing horror stories.) Thanks for any advice, big trip in a few weeks. ML

Solid tone = overheat. Beeping is oil system.

hope it helps

once i had a temp sender wire that got a nick in it inside the control unit -it would ground and set off the alarm usually closer to 3/4 throttle - just incase you dont find any other problem .

Just for back ground info- were you able to go full throttle & get on plane before or is this a new to you boat ? Over rpms ? Just ruling out the usual suspects. Resaon I ask is " when I am at MY WOT @ 5800 rpms, if I over trim, the rpms will come up to 6000 & an alarm will sound until I lower trim (reducing rpms) back to 5800ish.

An 88 XR4 don't have an ECU to sound such an alarm. It's either temp switch (solid tone) or oil alert (beeping, usually rapid).

Or a short circuit.

Re: Oil warning alarm at full throttle

Thanks fellow boaters. I got it back on the water yesterday, after messing with the low oil sensor the alarm was constant beeping. found some cracked insulation on the wires coming out of the cap. After messing with the float on the sensor, could get the alarm to quit. did a run at 6000 rpm and no alarm after pushing the float all the way up and locking it in with the washer. 15 minute run checked the oil res. it was full and remote tank had pressure. Going to order a cap assy. I hope this will solve the problem. What do y'all think. Thanks ML
