Hi all. Im fairly new to boating and outboards although Im mechanically inclined. I took my boat out scalloping last weekend and got in some shallow weeds, Im trimmed up as far as i could and put it just barely in gear and proceeded to move west. When the water became deep enough, I trimmed back down and accellerated, and the rpm's wouldn't pick up. So I put in in neutral and revved it once or twice... then I smelled that it was overheating so I quickly turned the motor off. I thought something must be clogging the inlets so i tried to trim up and nothing! I got in the water and the inlets were full of grass, i cleaned them out and got back in the boat and now it wont start or try to start, the trim will not go up or down on the remote box or cowl. All other electronics work still. Just no tilt/trim or start. After taking of the cowl I notice two burned through wires by the spark plugs on either side. I think these are temp switches? I never got a warning horn or beep either. But Im sure these wire were not burnt before. Im already checking into replacint these temp switches but what else should be checked? Why wont my trim work? Does this sound like a major problem to anyone? Please help!
