trim problems

Can't get my boat to trim down unless I jump a wire from positive side of battery to the down solenoid then it works fine what does that mean thanks for your help

on mine, it was just a corroded connection. remove all, clean and try again.

If you are jumping to the big green wire it means the motor is good and solenoid is not supplying power to the motor
if you are jumping to the small green wire on the solenoid the solenoid and the motor runs, the trouble is in the wiring to the helm or the trim switch

I just tired something else I took a wire and ran it from switch to solenoid and it went down but very slowly does that still mean that I have a bad solenoid or just a break in the circuit
