The 811544 looks correct except the high pressure hose is on the wrong side. I assume that both have the same drive rotation for the vanes?
AutoZone has 63131 in stock and I went to look at it. If not for the high pressure connection on the other side they look the same. Any suggestions

Wish I did but just cannot say. Mine was a saganaw and was able to pick up just the pump as your trying to do. The pump came right out of the housing and new one went in. I would guess it would work because Merc doesn't make the things and the pump other then the relief valve should be the same at the most. If you have the time take your off and take it in with you.

Bought pump tonight and will install tomorrow afternoon. I had to go with a pump that had high pressure connection on opposite side. Hose is able to twist and reach so it should be OK. Let you know if it works.

Rebuilt pump fixed the problem. I used #63131 from Auto Zone and swapped pressure requlator, high pressure hose to opposite side, bleed system and she worked when I started her up. Thanks for all the conversations. :joyous:

Ditto on thanks for the results. I was concerned that you hadn't checked the actuator and bought an unneeded part. Glad you got it right.

How can I tell if power steering pump is bad? I have a DHB on a 3.0L Merc. The steering feels like it has no assist

You main stering cable might also be froze up. Trust me!

Resurrecting an old thread here, but this was enormously helpful. The pump I used was a NAPA part, with an interchange from a Pontiac G6. The reservoir return line broke because I'm a terrible mechanic, but I was able to fix it with a $4 hose barb, a 7/16 drill bit and a 1/4 NPT die. The reservoir from the Pontiac would not suffice because it's canted at a 45 degree angle, whereas the 3.0 TKS pump is straight up and down; so it was do or die on fixing the existing reservoir.
