CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IN A MERCRUISER 5.0 MPI

HELLO GUYS,

MY ENGINE JUST GET THE 100 HOURS AND IT STARTS HAVING SOME ISSUES.

I THINK THEY ARE RELATED (WHAT I HAVE READ) TO THE IAC VALVE AND MUFFLER. IT STALLS ON IDLE AND WHEN RUNNING IT CUT THROTLE LIKE IT IS PROTECTING ITSELF. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND EVEN IF I RESTART THE ENGINE IT IS STILL ON.

YESTERDAY I MADE THE OIL CHANGE (GEAR AND ENGINE) AND CLEAN THE MUFFLER AND FLAME ARRESTOR AS THE MANUAL SAYS.

THE MOTOR SEEMS TO WORK GOOD NOW AFTER THE SERVICE BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILLS THERE. IT IS PRETTY ANOYING NOT KNOWING WHATS HAPPENING.

I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A SCAN TOOL RIGHT NOW (NO BODY HAS IT WHERE I LIVE). I DISCONNECT THE BATTERY 5 MINUTES, RECONNECT AND STILL THERE.

ANY IDEAS WHAT CAN I DO?

Without a scan tool it can be difficult but we could use some info to try and help.
Do you know your engine serial number or at least the year of the boat?
From your comment of cleaning the muffler Can I say it is a Throttle Body Injection (TBI)?

After you change the oil and cleaned the muffler and arrestor your saying the engine runs just fine but the light is on?

Appears you have a 377 engine with smartcraft system gauges. So your seeing the light which lights up the engine symbol? On the gauge it self there should be three buttons. A "mode" in the center and a "+" and a "-" on the sides. You should be able to use those buttons to scroll through the messages which will be shown on the LCD readout. Try that and see what it if telling you

Hi there, being you have a 2014 engine model and Mercruiser's catalyst exhaust system, wouldn't you be able to take the boat to the dealer you bought the boat or engine from? and if not, any Mercruiser dealer in your area should be able to help figure out what is wrong with the engine and repair it under warranty vs you spending a lot of money trying to find the problem.

Sorry my mistake no smartcraft gauges, this makes it a bit rougher. There is several things which could cause the light to show up but without the scanner were shooting in the dark. If you did have an issue going on we could guess at a possible location. Rinda sells the Techmate and the one with the Mercruiser logo for the same price, they are the same inside.
