When that engine was produced, the factory service manual recommended OMC Hi-Vis gearcase oil. Quart size: 775605. That oil is still available today from any Evinrude dealer. They also produce an upgraded oil, the HPF Pro. Quart size: 778755 You can scan through the exploded factory parts diagams at epc.brp.com. Purchase original factory manuals from this website: outboardbooks.com

Any outboard gear oil a viscosity of 80W-90 will be suitable. eg http://www.walmart.com/ip/16401580?w...tRedirect=true

If you find water or if the oil is milky looking when you drain it you will have to consider changing the gearcase seals. It is recommended that you always fit new sealing washers to the drain and level plugs.
Fill by injecting oil in through the drain hole until it flows from the level hole

Read http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...231-awakening-a-sleeping-outboard-by-boatbuoy

there is much useful info there for the new owner of an old engine.

You will find a service manual which covers this model at http://boatinfo.no/lib/library.html#

Btw there is no need TO SHOUT

Vic - thanks for posting the link to service manuals. I already have one for my 90 but this covers so much more. Very nice.
