Swapped a blown Mariner out for a Johnson.
New motor runs great , problem is when i took out the controls for the original motor it had a few wires, one was purple, that came out of the control that went forward to the fuse box and I had to diconect them, of course theres no wires coming out of the Johnson control box.
So do I need to splice into the new wiring harness?

For starters, you need to get real specific about the blown Mariner you removed and the Johnson you installed. Because the wiring diagrams will need to be seen to make the swap connection properly. But I don't see much issue with reconnecting up your tach and such.. Just need more info. between the two engines. Others on here could probably tell you without even looking though. So wait around for more to chime in too...

The purple wire from the Mercury motor control was feeding 12V to the panel when the key was turned to ON. What gauges are on the dash besides MPH and Tach?
