trolling motor

On my trolling motor my positive and negative wire both were showing wires and they shorted out the bare spot on the wires are in the middle of the boat did this burn my motor in my trolling motor or just blow a fuse and we're is fuse box

Unknown for sure but IMO it probably only blew the fuse. What brand of trolling motor?

I suspect that there is a fuse/circuit breaker blown. However, Reading over your comment a couple times, how did you know the wires were bare and shorted in the middle of the boat? Can you actually see those wires? And if so then I think only a fuse or circuit breaker is your problem. Your trolling motor would have not been effect because the short was before any of the current or voltage actually even made it to the trolling motor circuit. But make sure you rewire those wires and not just splice. Splicing wires will work short time but they will rear their ugly heads down the road... JMHO!

The trolling motor should be powered by a separate battery so the fuse panel for the boat would NOT have a fuse for the trolling motor. There is normally a fuse or circuit breaker located within a foot of the positive terminal of the trolling motor battery.
