He did agree to knock off $175 but like you said, it's his reaction and handling of everything. Inspection is just not logical for $10 k boat. $120 an hour to hoist out of water, got to let it sit, pay another $1000 for inspection. Sigh.

Something is amiss but what ........why so desperate.......just to buy another boat right here would make one enthusiastic not desperate. But if he screws me he's still right here sooooo......sigh. I know his slip rent is due right now and he doesn't have it far as I can tell. That may be where the desperation is coming from.

ma'am you are answering your own questions and ignoring some VERY experienced people.

his reaction and handling of everything.
yes - that tells you what a person is about

Something is amiss but what
You need to pay attention to the red flags, not ignore them

I know his slip rent is due right now and he doesn't have it far as I can tell
And he is wanting to buy another boat? Yes - see my comments about full disclosure/integrity and your muse on 'something is amiss but what'

I've seen it, been a part of it - and I'm betting others here will admit to the same. I know its not what you want to hear, but tread lightly

This is not the boat for me. I know it. I'm not ignoring believe me I'm just disappointed. Thank you all. Even without all input my instincts told me enough. You all just proved my point. Thanks again

Your boy friend makes a very good point, IF you said we have a deal and then your now backing out (I did say if)

Your looking at a boat which will only leave the lake for one of three reasons. 1) Inspection, 2) Repair or 3) Disposal
It's very doubtful the boat will ever be bought by someone which wants to restore it and move it. If you buy it just like the guy who owns it now will be looking at folks just getting into boating. Folks which don't know that BOAT does stand with Bring On Another Thousand.

As an example, I was working on my own boat which I could swear there was nothing wrong with the transom. Then I noticed a very small dark spot way down low. Got to digging into it and now I have half the transom and stringers tore out. This is on a 27 foot small cruiser

My guess is there is a high possibility that the boat your looking at has some hidden issues. Not saying the current owner knows where they are, just there probably are some. If you need to replace one of your engines there is going to be several thousand for an old used one. You mentioned about a couple hundred in gas, you will probably be spending around that much every weekend unless you don't go anywhere. Boats are very expensive to maintain and more so to repair. So if you need to make sure what your getting into and can you afford it.

I wish you the best

The guy also hadn't paid slip rent for this month. He doesn't have the cash. I would've had to pay that too because he's a week late. This guy sweated bullets when you asked a question. My friend saw it. This was not a good vibe kinda guy. I was partially ignoring it but it didn't feel right. I work in car sales. People ask for extra stuff all the time. You don't go psycho and slam the door in their face or they walk away, as did I. I had $10,000 in my pocket. He agreed to gas on the phone no problem then HE backed out and tried to pull something. Bring me gas over two months? He's not going to be here I guarantee. I here what you are saying but this guy was bad news. Thanks for your help and I will keep looking and be smarter next time.

And I even have him a deposit of $70 I'm never seeing again which even though he told us he doesn't drink, when we saw him later he was walking along with his arms full of beer. That's where my deposit went.
