So Im re-doing the electrical on a new (new to me at least) starcraft aluminum o/b. Ive got my plan figured out and most of my supplies. But I would like to get some opinions on blower fans. I understand the need for them with i/o's, but my boat is an o/b with plenty of passive ventilation in the bilge. So is a blower fan necessary? And if not necessary, would it still be a good idea? Shes 38 years old and i dont think shes ever had one, but I want to keep her safe and reliable. What do you think, iboats?

My $.02 is a blower is not necessary. The passive ventilation should be enough.

The purpose of a blower is to vent out gas fumes in an enclosed area. Typically an inboard or an I/O.

If your fuel system (tanks & lines) are all up to snuff with no leaks then there should be no issue with fumes lingering that could ignite.

Blowers are not needed or required with an outboard

Thanks a lot, guys. That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure before I replaced and installed everything. Go iboats!
