I want to install a windlass on my Doral 250se. I am currently looking at the moderately priced Lewmar v700. I like the low topside profile but my concern is that I will be a bit shy on the minimum recommended depth of 12" from the windlass unit to the chain/line pile in the locker. Has anybody had any experience with this model? Any moderately priced alternative models I should consider?
Also if there are any Doral 250se owners out there that have a windlass I would appreciate hearing your comments and recommendations.
Regards

Installing a windless on a Doral 250SE (Not your boat)

Edit: Dang iboats doesn't even like pics from other sites go figure

Found your boat weights in at 6500lb dry. Add fuel and stuff will bring you in around 7800 with 65 gal fuel.

The winless needs the 12 inches to the top of rode/chain in the locker so it doesn't bind up. So the locker should have 12 inches with the anchor stowed. Where do you boat and how deep is the water where you plan to anchor? What size anchor do you plan to use and how much chain do you have?

Thanks for your reply. I boat in the Lake St Clair- Lake Erie area so I think 150' would be more than adequate. Not sure on the current chain length and I have a plow type anchor. We will definitely be shy on the 12" clearance. I know there are many Doral 250se's out there with windlasses and I was hoping to hear from them on how well their windlasses work.
