I need to replace my ignition on my 91 ASTRO Bass boat with Merc 150.. my current ignition sticks alot and I lost the key...mine has 9 wires coming out of the ignition but most of the replacements I see have only 6 wires... will that work? Looking for advice on how to fix it. Thanks.

They should just be jumpered to similar terminals. The two Blk/Yel, two Purple (two which are faded) and two Red. They should ring out using an ohm meter. Peal the back of the potting
Hey AllDodge Thanks for the response.... I am not too good with boat electrical work, everytime I fool with wires I make more issues..lol... So I can take the wires that are the same colors and Splice them together to go to one wire on the new ignition swtich?? When you say peal back the potting is that the red/brown part? Is that hard to do?
A new control costs about $250 on here. Look for the Quicksilver Commander 2000. You'll love it; I did mine. Just match the connector pin count to get the correct control for your engine.
