looking at trolling motors today on Ebay, came across this 55lbs one ... no brand name but i could only get a 45lbs MK for that price! ..... plus free shipping... anyone see or use one like this before?

Contact the seller and ask for a brand name. If they refuse to answer, and since the motor is located in California, I'm guessing it is of Chinese origin and therefore of questionable quality and durability. In the long run you may be better off with the Minnkota or Motor Guide.

Can't say for sure, but "Factory Direct Sells" looks synonymous with Harbor Freight type items. If you looked into their "other store items", you will see everything they sell is not any brand name. So I suspect basically Chinese knock offs. But that is only my opinion and not a fact. I see similar items they are selling that HF sells as well. And HF has absolutely Chinese knock offs of most everything. Now does that make the trolling motor bad...I can't say. Some HF items are good for what they are. But other HF type products are totally junk. You just have to watch what you are buying... The TM could work for years and be everything you want... You have to decide that! JMHO!

Probably a very smart move on your part... Look at Motor Guide or Minnkota and I think you will enjoy your hard earned money's worth a lot better!
