After transporting my new / used boat the lower unit on my 2013 Volvo 380CE motor keeps triming up on it's own. When the boat arrived I received a meesage that motor could not start because the trim was too high so proceeded to start unit by using crank override mode and idling to slip. I'm able to get the unit to go down by using emergency triming the unit [holding it in down until it goes into trim/tilt motor protection] but once that has timed out the lower unit will raise on it's own to about a 40 degree trim level. I tried switching out the up/down relays to see it a defective relay was issue but that did not solve the problem [still trims up on it's own]. Any suggestions on what is causing this issue and how to fix? Thanks!

:welcome: to iboats Steve

Not a VP expert but have done some looking around. Does your boat have some sort of auto trim system? The reason I ask is having to use over rides to get the trim to move. If it has some sort of auto trim it could be that the sender which controls the trim needs adjusting. When is the model of the outdrive?

Edit: Is your trim gauge showing indication of HOLD or BEACH ??

The switch would be my first guess, it's sure where I'd start. Find the 'up' wire and disconnect it, then see if it raises on it's own ... ;)
