My boat yaws sharply to the right. Which way should I adjust the trim zinc?

Hi boaters, I just successfully completed an Impeller change and drive pull on my boat and with help from this board got it all together and working properly especially the cooling going through the transom exhaust ports. At any rate, I took the boat out today to shake it down and I am glad that I did because immediately I could tell that the boat was yawing to the right. Alot, like 20 degrees or so. I took the trim zinc off three times in the course of removing the lower that I did not mark it as suggested in the manuals. (note to self for next year) This is my bad. Now I was thinking that if the boat is yawing to the right then I should move the trim zinc to the right. Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks BrianIMG_1077.JPG

This is a good question. My alpha one gen 2 doesn't have a finned zinc like that.

Yes, I know. If you want the steering bias in a particular direction (you need it to go to port), then move the trailing edge of the trim tab in the opposite direction you need. So to make the steering bias more to the port, turn the tab so the trailing edge goes to the right...

This is a good question. My alpha one gen 2 doesn't have a finned zinc like that.

That's because you have a V6 or V8, or a 3 litre with power steering. As the power steering units are 'non feedback' a trim tab is not required. What you should have is an anodic plate... Just a sacrificial plate, but no fin...

Thanks Achris, trailing edge of trim zinc moved to the right to bias boat to port or left.

Will do.
