I have a knack for not being clear, so sometimes I feel the need to go back and edit posts. How long are they editable?

Actually 1 hour is pretty standard on most forums on the internet, that is what I have all of my various forums set for.

If you need anything edited feel free to send me a message and I could update it.

Thank you. No need. Just sometimes like to back and clarify things. If it's important I'll let a mod know.

Sometimes people want to edit a post as a way to say, "never mind, I fixed it." In which case, nobody gets to learn from the entire process.

Personally, I'd wait until questions are asked to better clarify your situation. You may second guess yourself 2-3 times (or would that be triple guess yourself?), otherwise. In an hours time, you will probably see the typo you want to change, even after proofing it 5 times; that's what I tend to do.

Uuuummmm, suddenly all my posts are editable regardless of time. Software issue??? Doesn't bother me, but does this need to be fixed?

No software issue. Admin hasn't changed it back to 1 hr limit like we had in the past. I would have to do some digging as to why we opened it up in the first place.....

Yea, I recently noticed that the 1 hr time limit has been removed. OK for me, as I usually find spelling errors and the like quite a while after I post. Stupid computer just does not know what I meant to say :D

HELP!!!
If the posts are editable, HOW do you do that???
What about if I want to delete the post, how do I do that?
Why is this information not easy to find, obvious, etc?
I have never used a forum where I cannot edit my own posts or delete my posts as I want to, for whatever reason, without contacting moderators, etc.
I have many years of "other forums" experience, I know my way around various websites and for the life of me, I cannot see a way, at this forum, where there are specific instructions regarding editing my own post. If the information is here, it is well hidden, disguised, etc. Not real obvious at all.
If anybody can enlighten me, I would be very appreciative.
Cheers,

The 1hr edit window for you to edit your own posts has been reinstated.

After 1hr the edit button is no longer active, any changes requires a Mod to make the requested them

As far as I know, there has never been an delete option available to delete your own post on iboats forums. At least none since I became a member.

Please refer to rule #9. Not up for open discussion in the forum

Topic closed.

If you wish to discuss it further, bumjelly, please PM at anytime.

If it wasnt necessary, there wouldnt be a 1hr edit window.

Certain actions necessitated the change to a 1hr edit window and probably the removal of the delete post button.

Thank you,

If you need to add more info in a Topic you created, bumjelly, all you would need to do is make another post within your Topic.
I've seen other forums where you get 30 minutes to make changes, if even......
