Got my new engine and I have more things to remove and sell and more things to buy, Have a 545HP 509 that needs to have restrictions removed.

My silent choice is already removed and Corsa exhaust tip mufflers are getting pulled. So I'm looking for 4 inch thru hull with internal flappers, and turndowns. My tips are about 1 inch from the water when sitting, yes only one inch. I picked up 3 inch higher exhaust elbows to help with back wash.

Gibson seems to be the only ones with clamp on turn downs. Don't understand why 8 inch turn down cost more then 12 inch but go figure.

Looked at a few tips water flappers inside the tips, but not many are 4 inch. Any suggestions ?

Also needing a drive shower and my builder tells me the ones with an actual top are better then the tube that spray water

Ayuh,... I saw yer thread at the other forum this mornin',..... ;)

How deep are you wantin' the tips to be in the water at idle,..??

If the 12" parts are cheaper than the 8",... Buy the longer, 'n cut 'em shorter,..... ;)

I built my own, 'n it's Ugly,... but my flappers, also homemade are still there, years after the fact,...
I'll dig up some pictures later,... 1/8" SSteel plates, 3/8" SSteel cross-bar, 'n a chunk of tire bolted to it to stop the Rattle,...

I was hoping to get a few more comments then just Eddie's, no issue just wouldn't mind other opinions. Might still get some, who knows

I thought I remembered seeing that they should be at least 6 inches in the water, cannot remember where I found it and don't know why it was mentioned. Maybe it needs to be that deep or you get splashing, don't know. Figure I will call CP and ask why the cost difference for shorter ones.

I would be OK with satin SS tubes, sure polished looks better but once the boat goes in the water most won't see them anyway. They will also get slimed up from algae. Wouldn't mind some reduction in the noise but don't want to hurt performance

Looks like I might go with this drive shower made by Hardin Marine. Eddie says the ones like this are better then just the spray nozzles.

Iam not to sure of having anything in the water other than the drive and maybe a transducer would be of a benefit.I f you look at the way noise makers straight pipes are measured on the water (sound level's) pipe's headed straight back are going to have a direct shot at the mic ..... little chance of escape. However turned down even a small amount will dampen the sound quite a bit or throw the sound back straight up and dissipate it.. not straight back in anyone's face...Yes water will bounce sound play with a small speaker sometime...in a bucket of water.

It's just me trying to be a nice as possible to others around when docking and tying up. Would love it if the motor was quite all the time, but no way to allow an engine to breath at my HP without open exhaust under load. If my tubes are under the water at idle it should be much quitter

There is another at my dock which does his best to be polite and does not start his engines until he is out from under the dock cover. He has twin 540's with open exhaust. When he comes back in he stops his engines just as he starts to back in and then pulls the boat into the slip.

The muffler tips (5 inch) currently on the boat are good with the standard 502 engine (415 HP). Increasing above that to my 545HP I will need to go to 6.5 inch mufflers. I'm turning 5200 rpm at WOT with 509cuin. According to Eddie Young and Corsa my current mufflers are restrictive
