Hi, I have the Mercruiser 3 button push button switch (up, up/down, in) to the dual solenoid trim pump setup to raise and lower my trim cylinders. I've recently replaced both solenoids and replaced the older wiring with new wiring, and the system works tell (cylinders raise and lower good). In looking at the schematics, I can't really tell what size gauge the main red power wire from the battery to the solenoids and the main black ground wire back to the battery are supposed to be. Right now, I'm running 10 gauge for the main red and black wires, but fear those may be too small? Anyone have feedback? I have no problems upgrading to 6 or 4 gauge for both if it would help.

The pump is capable of drawing around 100A, so your wire needs to be capable of carrying that current. It also depends on the length of the run... 10 gauge will be fine, up to about 10'...

Have a look at this chart -> http://www.offroaders.com/tech/12-vo...gauge-amps.htm

Personally, I always go for big cables, not small. Especially when the item is high current.

I believe mine are 8 gauge. Going to big won't hurt anything but to small can be a problem.

I've decided to play it smart and upgrade to 6 gauge for both. Marine grade naturally from the boat store :)
