I'm leaning towards the Lowrance HDS Gen3 9" screen bundled package. It comes with the LSS-2 and an 83/200 KHz transducer. I want to make the best out of the CHIRP. The sales guy at Bass Pro told me today that I won't get CHIRP using the 83/200. He said I needed a chirp ducer. Is this correct? He pointed to the TM150M which I haven't heard good things about. I also have a flat spot on the bottom of my Sailfish forward of the drain plug that looks like a good place for the LSS-2. Garmin points to this as a good placement for their down-vu sonar. I could use facts to I can get this done. thanks for anyone's help.

I would suggest calling the manufacture. I to had questions on another unit (Garmin) and called them and talked at length to a very knowledgeable person which filled in all the issues I had. Discussing with sales at bass pro would not be the best bet

Yes, CHIRP requires a special transducer. A conventional transducer will not cut it

Interested to hear what you heard about the tm150. Airmar normally makes an excellent product

dingbat, I read 4 pages on one topic on that other forum. It started off with a few guys not reading the bottom after 200'. Also losing the bottom on plane at slower speeds. I've read many posts that the ducer works great. I was ready to spend the money but I don't want to find out that this thing's not cracked up to what it's suppose to be. Maybe some of these guys mount them wrong, I don't know. I live in SW Fla. I fish the Gulf. It takes me about 12 miles to get to 60' of water. About 3 times a year I fish Islamorada/Marathon, I'd like to

A good friend of mine is running a B265LM on a Garmin GSD 26. Great performance..and that's something coming from a Furuno guy. So good, I'm seriously thinking seriously about adding a GSD26 to my Garmin 4208 as a backup. :)

The TM150 is a transom mount. Can't expect much. Going to a thru hull transducer was the best move I've made in a while
