Idle mixture adjusting tool. Can I use something else?

Need to adjust the mixture screw on a 4.3 L Mercruiser. Looked into buying the "special adjusting tool". Tool is less than $3 but S&H ranges from $6 to $16 with a week wait until it arrives. I was wondering and hoping that one of you old pros might know of something I can use in place of the adjusting tool or an idea on how I can make one. Thanks in advance.

You'll need to say more about the year of the engine and what kind of carb is on it. The 4V Weber/Carter idle screws on my boat adjust with a screwdriver. No special tool needed.
