So I've read

http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat...this-a-fiberglass-information-thread?t=286013

I'm not sure which I should use for tabbing in new streamers / transom replacement...

Polyester or epoxy???

Any thoughts??

Thanks!

More then likely your hull was made using polyester resin. So that would be your best and cheapest route to work with. I used 435 lamination resin from US Composites out of Florida. However iboats also sell polyester resin on here. You can see their material and pricing as well. But I will warn you, any place you buy it from online is going to charge you a pricey HazMas fee and that adds up pretty quick. For a five gallon bucket it cost just a little over $26 dollars just for the HazMas fee. And if you order two five gallon buckets, it is twice that HazMas fee as well...Then there is shipping cost on top of that also... So make sure you get what you want and order it all the first time and save some money as well. But more then likely you will use 435 laminating or layup resin and not 404 tooling resin. Read some of the other boat projects on these forums and you will get further info as to how to actually do it and the materials used... Post more questions if you need too... :thumb:

I'll only add that if you want maximum bonding strength (old to new) use epoxy resin. The down side is it cost more and can blush if you wait to long to put more layers on

If you are rebuilding a fiberglass boat, you'll likely need 15 of those 1gal containers, or more, much more cost effective to buy it in a 5gal container...
