I bought a transom saver and hooked it up to the motor and trailer and noticed that when I got to the lake the motor actually turned to one of the side so the transom saved really didnt do anything is there a way to lock the motor in place either at the motor or at the console?

The motor shouldn't be able to turn much with it nestled into the V notch on the "motor deflopperizer". How about a picture of the setup?

You can strap the steering wheel to a nearby fitting to keep it from moving.

They are not designed to keep the motor from turning, they are to lessen the load on your transom while trailering. Makes no difference which way the motor turns or sets, the transom saver should still take up the stress on your boats transom. Had one years back and my motor always turned to one side as well, after carefull calculations I realized the starter/alternator was on that side making the motor head heavier on one side. I just started leaning the power head in that direction on the getgo....it never turned back the other way..

I will try to get a picture and post it. Airshot if the motor does turn while driving the transom saver will not turn with the motor, from what I think anyway would be that the it sits in the V grove and you lower the motor into it so its snug. If the motor turns it will not even stay on the transom saver. I dont think that I had it down tight enough. I will try it again and crank it down a little more, it seems to be harder to turn when I really snug it down

The transom saver I used to have had a strong rubber bungee cord that held the saver to the motor, right across the V.

MIne too, and my 90 ETEC stays nice and straight despite my lousy driving.

Mine turns too and my brothers doesn't. I think it depends on what kind of steering setup a hull has too.... His steering is much stiffer. I know I don't have any adjustment...

Is your motor a tiller drive or has a central console installation ? If tiller, could adjust engine steering load nut at swivel bracket to have way more turning resistance. That way engine will turn much less to a side.

Sea Rider, it is a side console. I think that if I tighen down a little more on the power tilt it may hold better. Not sure on the stearring but I can pull the motor left to right pretty easy and the steering is smooth and somewhat loose

Remote control outboards should have a Swivel Bracket nut to adjust load, if so adjust it CW a bit to achieve more SB side resistance when trailering your combo.
