Fuel pump re wiring

As most of y'all already know the volvo penta fuel pump runs off the alternator. I really dislike this setup and wondering if anybody has converted theirs to where it runs off the ignition switch and if so how? If anybody knows that it can't be done then please let me know before I do some more research.

You would have to run it through an oil pressure switch if you ran it off the ignition.

Not sure what is wrong with the existing setup. Works fine for most people. You would still need a fuel pump relay.

Thees's nothing wrong with the system now. I just don't like the set up. I had an alternator belt break last year in the middle of the lake and if the fuel pump was hooked to ignition I could of made it back to bank

That is true. I do carry spare belts but I see your point.
