I looked at the sea-doo website and Kawasaki's site and they don't list any boats just PWCs. Does anyone make Jet boats in the 14-18' range anymore? Is this just a Canadian thing?
There are a lot of them out there, you didn't specify, do you want a inboard, or an outboard? I have a lot of friends around here, the use their aluminum utility/fishing boats with outboard jets on them.
I was thinking more like the sea-doo fiberglass boats that were around 14'. There used to be a few manufacturers in that market and I can't find any now.
If you want one of the 14 foot sport jets, you are probably going to have to look at a newer used boat or see if you can a couple of year old new stock model sitting on somebodies lot, it looks like most of them have upped the sizes of their sport jet boats. I know a couple of lots in my area that have a couple of the smaller Yamaha sport jets still in stock.
Yea thats the only one I found too. I'm honestly not looking for one, I saw a sea-doo 180 challenger the other day and thought it was a sweet setup especially for river running. I looked for pricing online and to my amazement sea-doo doesn't make sport jets at all anymore, they just make the Rotax setup. Those smaller 14' units used to be great starter boats. I'm amazed that there is no market for them anymore.
Having had 2 of the 14'ers, they outlive their usefullness quickly. Just simply not enough room for even 2 people without stumbling over a cooler half the time. I now have a 17.5' Sugar Sand, much, much easier to live with, but still as easy to handle as the 14'.

Seadoo dropped their line in favor of providing engines and drives to scarab and Glastron (and I think one other). The old seadoo speedsters, sportsters and challangers (why they changed around that name so much is beyond me) were 15' I believe. The scarab 165 is what you're looking for today, however their will be very few for used and new ones are not cheap.
The changed the names around every so often, but in general, sporters were 16' class boats. Speedsters were the high performance version of the sportster, and the challenger's varied from 18 to 20' hulls. Seadoo also made a couple models with Mercury jets for good measure, islandia, utopia, and I believe the challenger also had it for a couple years.
My lake house neighbors bought an old Sea Doo 15 footer for their kid to use...no prop but less than neighbor friendly 2 stroke noise. After having my SC Waverunner for a few weeks now and seeing the amazing amount of gas it uses, I don't know that I would be a jet boat guy. I didn't think any vehicle could use as much gas as a supercharged jet engine does.
Myself if I was in the market, I would be looking at that 16 foot G3, a friend of mine has one and it is a great boat, not obnoxiously loud and will go in 4 inches of water, it might claim to be a aluminum fishing boat, but believe me, it is a great all around boat.

For sure...my waverunner says not to operate in less than 2 feet of water because it will ingest sand and whatever else is there. You think or a traditional jet and shallow water but really that's not the case.
