Well, seems I got a rude awakening to boating..have posted prior so I won't go through it all...anyway..since removing the sterndive and poping off the upper gearcase..I gently tapped the gears out with a wooden dowel hoping not to damage anything..the upper horizontal shaft was missing the end bearing and the gear teeth are a little chewed up..not that bad though..i think they chewed up the bearing as the lower is completely seized..question is..can i install the gears out of the one I purchased that doesn't have the true steering...look the same with same 21/17 teeth...the rear bearing seat has a few little scrapes on it as does the vertical bore where the o ring seals..are all these casings the same minus the true steering..?? Looks to be another learning experience, not that's there's anything wrong with that...
