Hi, Was cruising in the boat tonight and it just died all of a sudden. No signs or symptoms, it was running excellent before it died. It cranks fine, just won't fire. I pulled the flame arrestor off while cranking and its getting no fuel. The key buzzer isn't sounding either like it usually does.

Any ideas?

My idea would be to check the connections to the ECM, since you have an EFI. Not sure if there is a fuse for the ECM, but that would be good to look into as well.

Sure could use a engine serial number, but since your not hearing anything when the key is turned, start with the simple stuff. Push the engine breaker and see if it resets. Check for 12V at the starter, both sides of engine breaker, then go to ignition switch and the Red/Purple wire.

Don't have the serial # handy but it's a 1998 5.0 EFI. Pressed the breaker last night while trying to get it going and nothing. I'm going back today with the multi meter and will report back

I found out what it was. It's the wiring from the starter that goes to a connector behind the cap. Then to the electrical box where the breaker is, etc. I was wiggling wires while the key was on and the buzzer sounded and could hear the fuel pump run. I'm going to try and fix tomorrow

Sooo It was a ground wire that attached to the main block ground stud. It was never even hooked up. I guess when I put the engine in last week I forgot to hook it up. Funny thing is i used the boat 3 times with it like this. It must have just been resting and grounding somewhere.... weird
