I recently replaced the head unit in my boat with a Jensen MS2013BT bluetooth head unit and I replaced the original speakers with Infinity 612m marine speakers. The unit sounded bad. I thought the speakers may have been wired out of phase somewhere in the boat, so I verified continuity from the harness to the speakers. Then I thought that the new speakers might just need to be broken in. Things seemed that they may have gotten a little better so I just accepted that perhaps marine audio just sucked. Then the other day, I was doing something with the head unit and I noticed that the "loud" mode was on, so I held the EQ/LOUD button to turn it off and the unit came alive. The sound was better than I would have expected for the speakers.
My concern is that possibly the head unit may switch to a different analog circuit internally when loudness is switched on and that there may be something defective with the unit. Has anyone else experienced this?
