having trouble finding the same fuel pump. New fuel pump is not exactly the same. Input and output are in a different spots. And the arm is not exactly the same and my mechanic wants to know if it will damage my internal parts

welcome aboard.

first, find a different mechanic. if any mechanic has to ask his/her customer a question, they are not a qualified mechanic.

second, buy the correct fuel pump. probably have the 5.7 GM based fuel pump vs the Ford 5.8 based fuel pump.

if he is asking questions about internal damage to an engine, then he is not really a mechanic, however maybe someone who occassionally turns wrenches.

where are you looking for your fuel pump?

This is the one I installed on my Ford 302. It works great. It's a marine pump and it states it will fit a 351.. As far as the ports aligning, you can align them however you need to. It won't affect the pump at all. You can turn the ports however you need to by loosening the screw in the bottom.
