I'm replacing the sealed bearing with that 21752712, and I need to know how to extract the tube 3852564 and plug the hole on the bell , thanks
Hi
daidone and thanks as I did receive your private message regarding this question. Lets continue the conversation here vs behind the scenes just in case this topic may help others out in the future.
From my findings, OEM Volvo gimbal bearing part number 21752712 is a "new" (latest model/design) serviceable/greaseable bearing. Since the bearing is now serviceable (again) you will need or want to leave the tube in place that is running between the gimbal housing assembly and the bearing flange/area....You do not want to extract (remove) tube part number 3852564 as you will need it.
There is a chance that if you had a non serviceable bearing at one time, then the zerk fitting where you'd put grease in the bearing (on the side of the gimbal housing) May have had a plug installed...If so, then you would have to remove the plug and re-install a new zerk fitting to use bearing part number 21752712.
With either design bearing installed, you won't want or need to remove the grease tube as that may produce a water leak into the gimbal housing and boat.
