Have a1995 Yam 15hp.
The prop has B-2239 stamped into it.
Looked on the Parts pages and can't find any thing to compare.

Any idea?

It's my nephew's Whaler and he beats the prop up pretty good.

Before he destroys it I'm looking for a replacement.

Thanks for any help and any links.

All portable OB's comes with a medium pitch prop, check which pitch number will work fine calling a Yamaha dealer. Faster than wild guessing. Should be a 8-9 prop pitch.

Don't want to guess that's for sure.
That's why I asked here.
Wild guessing is called the WAG system. (wild a&% guess).

You should read the stickys at the top of the prop forum.
You must have a tach to help evaluate you present numbers and to evaluate the results with the new prop.
It's critical for your motors health that it is able to operate within its wot rpm range.A prop shop can help determine the present prop size
take the prop to them.
We are just fellow boaters trying to help you out. We need certain numbers to run through the calculators.
We can usually can find the specification numbers, hp. wot rpm, gear ratio, prop size and with your light load wot rpm and gps speed.
We usually ask for a lightly loaded wot rpm and gps speed. We do need the prop size hopefully found under the prop nut.
There are various prop selection calculators but they usually end up with a couple of sizes.

I did a little research Your motor has a 2.08 gear ratio, wot rpm is 4500-5500.
Sometimes you can get an idea what props work by how many are available in the various sizes.
The 9" I suggested appears to be the most available.

If you replace same prop with a new one, will never know if previous one worked spot on on that current combo, is a must test with an induction tach factory delivered props to know if inside safe wot range, that's testing with one up and minimun loaded. Can go from there maximizing a prop to suit your boating needs and carrying loads.

I just posted a # B-2239 and asked if anyone could help identifying it.
I know how to test if the prop and rpm,s match.
I have a tiny tach but can't test with the prop that's on there.

Just needed to repair or replace what's there.
Was hoping someone would have an idea where the B-2239 came from.

Thanks for the comments.

Have you looked under the prop nut for numbers? If we had the details of the boat would help tell a ballpark on the prop.
Props here are under $60 with free shipping.I believe Solas supplies props to Yamaha.
You could get a prop and test, if necessary replace with ideal size and sell or keep for a spare.
I'm as tight as they come and would try a test at less than $60 a prop.
I think a repair would cost close to that.

The prop had the # b-2239 as the only identifiers on it.
Been doing this for a while and know to look before I post.
The boat a 12ft Whaler, came with a different motor.
The 15 Yam was added later.
The prop had been redone before it was bought.
The kid is a river-rat and promptly ran it in shallow water.

He's gonna have to get it rebuilt and then we'll do the performance tests.

See if possible to rebuild it, then tach it at wot while lightly loaded, the issue is that while don't knowing which pitch is it, will have hard times ordering one or going from current one for a prop maximization to better the overall water performance of that combo. Why don't you call a Yam dealer and ask what's tha factory delivered prop that comes with a 15 HP OB, should be an 8 or 9 ?

Correction, shouldn't be drinking happily and writing at same time, the any time edit feature should be brought back as before to avoid publishing unwated typo errors.

Prop repair guys stamp a number on props to identify it and keep track in their log book for tax reasons
Also PROP CO
Grinds off manufactures size and pitch
And puts their own little SPECIAL
Number on them
It could be to confuse the prop owner
And he will buy another propco prop
Look them up on net and they might have a cross over chart
