The starter would not engage...sometimes. I ended up replacing the starter and getting a new starter battery. I charged the new battery just to be sure there was enough juice to engage the starter. It still would not engage, just spin with the bendix not jumping far enough to engage the flywheel. Took the starter back and they tested it saying it was pulling 48 amps, with the range to be 40-65 amps, so the starter is good. Can anyone give me any ideas on what to test or change? Thanks...

What I do is take the starter apart for inspection BEFORE laying out the cash for a new one.----Did you get a new one or used.-----Most of these starters are damaged from too much cranking.------They are just not robust enuff for that !!

Does the starter crank properly with a set of booster cables directly from the battery !

You said you "sorted" the fuse! Which fuse did you check. If you checked those on the fuse block you did not check the correct fuse. The fuse to check is located under the engine cover.

that fuse just kills power to tha key switch... if its popped key switch won't do anything.. starter won't do anything..
like said, battery cables or solenoid contacts burnt (maybe).. hard ta say when ya can't be there ta touch it.... jmo.
