Ok here's the issue, I bought a brand new 2015 crestliner Jon retriever outfitted with a 2015 75hp Mercury fourstroke. There are currently no gauges installed and I would like to install atleast one. I sent a message to Mercury and received very vague information.

My intention here is to add a tach which in my opinion is very important as well as will help with my next prop selection. Now after searching the web I came up with no info as to how to install it from scratch. All I could find is people changing out old gauges.

Mercurys response was you need a link harness and the grey wire? As well as a sc1000

I just want a simple tach or at lease to know how and where to wire all this up?

My assumption is that you get a wire harness that clips into the remote throttle pigtail and run it to the new gauge?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

You can always stick with an analog gauge. merc# 79-895283a05 set to 6p use tach harness 84-892990t01 Maybe a google of those parts would help. I can tell you that the wiring diagram comes with the gauge. purple should be ignition, blk, is ground, gry is your tach wire to send of course double check my info going on memory here.

Smart craft is plug n play, just need to have all the components. You need engine harness, junction box, termination resistors and others. Just depends on how far and what components your installing. Here is a guy which installed it in 2008

Look thru this pdf and see if it answers your questions.

Livorsi does a nice write up on vessel view and such
