94 ebbtide I/O runs wide open for a while then idles down.

This boat has an OMc v-8 carborated inboard/outboard it starts and runs great. You can give it full throttle reach plain and after a while at any speeds it will drop from running RPM down to about 2400 rmps with the throttle still down. To get back up to speed you have to back the throttle all the way off into the neutral position then throttle back up. From a stopped position this boat throttles up great and plains out quickly. What could cause it to idle back down.

Note this weekend was the first time I took the boat out besides the test drive which it ran fine so I don't know to much about it.

Your problem sounds like a fuel starvation.

Fuel starvation can be due to a failing fuel pump, clogged filter, partially blocked fuel pickup screen, sticking fuel anti-siphon check valve or a clogged fuel tank vent.

If you have a clogged fuel tank vent, removing the fuel filler cap will temporarily solve the problem. When you do remove the cap within seconds of stopping, you'll hear a "sucking" sound as air rushes into the tank through the filler opening.

If the problem is due to a clogged fuel pickup screen, you'll need to get access to the top of the tank to remove and clean or replace it.
