Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... The starter is way down low, starboard side of the block at the extreme aft corner, held on by 2 bolts, straight up from below,....

The key start circuit runs from the key switch, through the neutral safety switch in the control, to the slave solenoid, to the starter's solenoid,....

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I cannot find pics of this anywhere but at least I know where to look now.

Oh my gosh! I guess I will find out if I can reach that without taking out the engine. Thanks a lot for the pic and the diagrams. At least I can see what I'll be looking for.

Most likely your key switch is bad or wires touching so that starter is "activated" while boat is running. When you shift into gear your neutral safety switch kills the power to the starter solenoid (yellow with red stripe wire from key switch to neut safety switch to starter) when you shift back to neut. the neut safety switch reconnects the power to the starter making it turn on and make that "hit the key with car running" noise you mentioned.

I'm thinking that this is the case (hoping because I am unable to access the starter itself). Yesterday the boat began starting on it's own. I had switched the boat off but had the key in the "run" position (but not actually running) and it would just start up. Scary because the kinds were playing on the deck!!!!

Today, I'm looking for the ignition switch to replace it. I have the Seloc online manual but it is very unhelpful.

Also, the safety switch is messed up. We run the boat without using the kill switch clip in and have never used it. We wanted to start but not only does none fit it, but when I manually push the switch to cut the engine it does not cut off.

I'm kinda at a loss as to how to identify the parts I need and find the instructions.

No Title

Can anyone help me identify this ignition switch (and harness)? It's on a 2007 Princecraft Vacanza 220 with a 5.0 (220 hp) Mercruiser Engine. I have pics below.

Also, I noticed a small button aft of the engine compartment blower switch (you can see in the pics). Does anyone know what that is for?
