Hi all,

I am wiring a new automatic bilge pump into my 96 FourWinns Horizon. I understand the basic layout of the wiring. My question is, I bought a 3-way switch that already has a 10-amp fuse installed in it. Do I still need to put a fuse going back to the battery with the 10-amp fuse present in the switch. The new pump recommends a 6-amp fuse, so I am unsure if I still would add this fuse in addition to the fuse in the switch. Thank you for the help.

Not seeing the actual design, my guess is you will be fine. The issue is the bilge pump should run direct off the battery to the float switch and then the pump. If anything shorted out, which includes the wire, it would be good to have the fuse close to the battery. That said, it would be rare for something to cut into the wire and cause an issue, but there remains a chance

Thank you, I appreciate the input. Would I be hurting anything by adding the 6-amp fuse close to the battery in addition?
