What is your opinion of, or, better yet, experience with, using a non EPA (i.e. fully vented, unpressurized) portable fuel tank with a modern, 4-stroke outboard (in the case, a Tohatsu 9.8)? I would like to use a metal, OMC 6 gal tank w/ my new O/B. I feel like I should be able to piece together a hose with an OMC fitting on the tank end and Tohatsu fitting on the O/B end and a modern squeeze bulb in the middle, and it "should" work with the tank vented during operation. Has anyone done this? What are your thoughts?

The motor won't care if the fuel comes from an EPA tank or an old Nehi bottle.

It will work fine with the correct connectors on the end of the hose,

during a night fishing trip i once used a 40 oz bottle, wont say what was in the bottle to start with

and their many good reasons why things went away from metal tanks, static electric making a spark to rust in them the, red plastic tanks are just better
