OMC stern drive unit I. D.

I have a 1991 SeaSwirl. It has a 3 liter GM motor and a OMC Cobra stern drive. I can't seem to I.D. it. The metal tag riveted to the unit gives the model # as 986321 and serial # as T0712254. I need to know what year this unit is, as I need to order some gaskets for it. Is there anyone out there that can stick a year to this unit ?

check on the engine. The number on the engine should be something like 302BMRRGD 1991

Thank you for your help. Engine tag gives Model # 302BMRPWR. Serial # T01202440. I live in Billings Montana and there is no one that I can find who does OMC stern drive stuff. The shop that used too went out of business. I will look on the net with the engine #. I Iooked on the net with the numbers on the tag on the unit and of course that got me nowhere. Thanks again for your help.

iBoats has a good selection of parts HERE, but make sure you look for a good shop manual. I don't know the Cobras well, but you can keep 'em running. OMC dropped out of the game back in the 90s and some parts are getting a little hard to get hold of ... MANY marine techs don't have any experience with the drives, so they are becoming "DIY" systems.

Welcome aboard!

You can find all the part numbers for your particular engine/drive package @ http://epc.brp.com/ (you can leave the email blank btw)

You'll have to find an actual dealer or after market source (iBoats for example) for the parts.

If you're just looking for service parts, raw water pump kits etc. You can find that stuff just about anywhere.

If you want to do a drive rebuild, most parts are available but they're not cheap........And like Southkogs said, finding someone to do it is getting to be problematic these days............Even finding someone that knows how to change the drive oil is getting harder as many here have found out (the hard way)

................OTOH, if you really did need to rebuild/replace the drive, another choice would be to consider an SEI conversion kit. Which is also available here.....

OReilly auto parts carries the Sierra line of marine parts and with my military discount parts are reasonable. Since I have an extensive mechanical backround I can probably figure out most of the OMC unit. I used to work for OReilly after I retired so I have the Sierra catalog and can look up my own parts.Thank you all for your help..
