I just bought a new 2016 Lowe ss230. It has a Mercury 150 elpt on the back. It is a tritoon with lifting strakes.

It came with a vigance ss prop. I want to breK the 40mph barrier. What prop should I consider?

How about some specs on your current vengeance and your WOT rpm and mph (gps preferred). Also, will the "break the 40 barrier" load in the boat be about the same as with the data points given? What kind of elpt, carbs/fuel injected, 2/4 stroke

Sorry 4 stroke, fuel injected

My last max rpm was 5500 34mph

What's the wot min-max rpm range for that engine ? Sometimes it's impossible to dial what one wants, there are mechanical limits to it.

I agree with Sea Rider. Check the manual and see what the recommended WOT RPM's for that motor are. If they say 5500-5600 is recommended max RPM's, you may be out of luck. What pitch is the SS prop you have now? If your manual says you can go to a higher max RPM than 5500, than every inch you drop the pitch, you will gain about 200 rpm's. So if you have a 21 pitch on now, going to a 19 pitch would increase your max rpm's by about 400.

Basic 150 2 strokers tach out at 55-5600. I doubt a 4 stroker will top that. You didn't give your current prop pitch. If you gimme that, I'll play with prop numbers and tell you if you have a chance......a lot depends on prop slip and if high, is that prop or boat dynamics.

Because you increase wot rpm with decreased pitch does not mean you increase speed. It may if the engine is seriously over propped. The decrease in pitch reduces forward motion.

Sorry for the delayed response, I've been working a lot of overtime.

Today I went out with my 3 year old son, and max speed via gps was 29mph @ 5800 rpm's.

If wot rpm for that OB is 5600, at 5800 is over revving slightly while lightly loaded as stated. If toon happens to have dirty toons, once cleaned wot rpm and top end speed should increase a tad.

Does OB sits at the sweet transom height, including well trimmed to 90? for toon to ride parallel to water level ? If not, a OB height/trim optimization and one less pitch size will surely achieve better top end speed with less wot rpm than before including less top hole shot.
