Can I use this wood at lowes for my transom on my 19ft gradywhite? I also wanted to know if I remove my floor with out popping the cap with my hull warp?

I recommend removing the cap (a lot less work)

most people on here recommend arauco(brand) ACX plywood available from lowes, home depot and menards. the CCX would have way too many voids and not enough plys.

read the 3rd sticky in the forum, specifically links 2, 3, 4a, 4b and 14. here is a link http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat...r/295740-how-to-s-and-other-great-information

My plans was to cut around the splash well. When I said remove the cap I mean taking the rubrails off and pulling the top cap of the boat completely off. Thanks for the links. Is the ACX plywood in store or would this be special order. I seen some that was b grade made for water. I had one of those color codes at Lowes.

ACX is in the store. Its exterior grade. And yes, removing the cap requires puulling the rub rail and pulling the cap. Much less work than trying to piece the splash well back together

I never done this and do not really have the space to put the top half. I will be doing this at a friends house. I almost can do it from the inside of the boat. My inner skin is delaminating and I can just chip it away. Really there is not inner skin. I have already started chipping at the wood where the kicker motor mount comes out pretty easily. I was hoping i can put in in 3 sections without moving the cap at all.

I've seen several Grady White transom replacements done from the outside. It's NOT my favorite method but...It's done all the time by the Pro's and, if done correctly, will yield a very strong transom replacement.

Hang the cap from the rafters with ratchet straps, finish the transpm, lower cap and reseal. Trying to do it in 3 sections is half-a$$ed
