I'm new in this forum and I'd like to ask some help.
We bought new long block GM 3.0 engine and replaced in my 1998 four winns boat.
After the replacement new engine does not start .
We have sparks, tried to use engine starter spray...but no more idea...
Do we have to set the timing ?
How can I check the timing if the engine does not start ?

Thanks for your help,
Zolt

Make sure the timing is at #1 TDC on the compression stroke. You may have it on the exhaust stroke. If that's the case, you need to rotate the distributor 180?.

I had an older Mercruiser I was reviving and put the distributor in backwards- easy to do. You will have to set the timing. I imagine it is set up like the Mercruiser ignitions- need to do it correctly or it will not preform well. Careful with the ether.
