Hi all, just purchased a 01 larson with 5.0 gl engine and VP sxm drive from the original owner whom had never removed the drive. The exhaust has no bellows only a solid rubber tube from the transom side of the exhaust. There is no flapper inside the tube or any way to prevent water from entering. Since he bought it new I assume this to be correct but wondered if I should change to a full bellows. Thanks for any help.

No need to change it. I've heard claims of added horsepower with that tube, I changed my old boat over to that and noticed nothing. On a side note, that drive should be pulled off and grease the splines, also check alignment. That should be part of the yearly process.

Thanks for the reply cv16 . The tube looked fine to me.I was more concerned about how much water could back flow into the exhaust . Thanks again!

The exhaust shutters should be at the top of the y pipe, one set on each side, just below the exhaust elbows.
